DEAR TEACHER

In long smooth strides
She sweeps into the room
A light, bright presence
Energy embodied
Wraps slender legs
‘round a purple cushion
Squats down and nests.
She is at once
Bird - - - and
Butterfly
For when she speaks
Her hands flutter about in the air
In front of her heart
Releasing into flight
Ancient teachings
Wisdom and compassion
Wing-ed truth
Waiting to light in our minds
And bury itself
Deep in our hearts.
